Weekend Tip: Time to Start Sowing…

Cool Season Crops

  • Arugula
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Chard
  • Kale
  • Lettuce (Early season, first succession.)
  • Onions

Warm Season Crop

  • Peppers (If your house is chilly like mine, they’d appreciate a seedling heating mat.) These ones take forever to get going and big, so they are a great candidate for starting early.

Herbs & Flowers

  • Chamomile
  • Elegant Calicoflower – An Willamette Valley, Oregon native annual flower that pollinators love. It thrives in wet marshy areas, perfect for our new rain garden. It can be direct sowed, but I prefer to start indoors as well to ensure a robust beginning. After that I hope it will reseed on it’s own.
